CFR’s volunteer internships give selected volunteer interns the opportunity to receive training in the area of foreign policy; as well as skills training in areas such as writing, research, and program planning. The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is a leading nonprofit membership organization, research center, and publisher, with headquarters in New York, an office in Washington, DC, and programs nationwide.

ASMEA: Research and Conference Grant Opportunities

Application Deadline: Sunday, April 15, 2018. 

The Association for the Study of the Middle East and Africa (ASMEA) is pleased to offer the following Grant opportunities to its Members in conjunction with the Eleventh Annual ASMEA Conference on November 1-3, 2018 in Washington, D.C.: 

ASMEA Research Grants:

ASMEA is offering Research Grants up to $2500 to qualified students and scholars engaged in the study of the Middle East and Africa.

Conference Travel Grants:

ASMEA is offering Travel Grants up to $750 to qualified scholars and students to present their research at the Eleventh Annual Conference.

Guidelines: 

Applicants must be current members of ASMEA and engaged in ongoing study of the Middle East or Africa.

Applications must be accompanied by a paper proposal representing new and unpublished research from any academic discipline yet relevant to the region.

Successful applicants will be required to present their research at the Eleventh Annual ASMEA Conference.

Call for Applications: Rotary Peace Fellowship

The Rotary Foundation is now accepting applications for the fully-funded 2019 Rotary Peace Fellowship. Up tp 100 social change leaders are selected globally every year to earn either a master's degree or a professional development certificate in peace and conflict studies at one of six Rotary Peace Centers at leading universities around the world. 

Peace fellowship applicants must meet these requirements:

  • Proficiency in English; a second language is strongly recommended
  • Demonstrated commitment to international understanding and peace 
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Master’s degree applicants: minimum three years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, bachelor’s degree
  • Certificate applicants: minimum five years of related full-time work or volunteer experience, strong academic background8
