APIA Scholarship

The APIA Scholarship is open to AANHPI undergraduates attending any US accredited university or college. Amounts range from $2,500 one-year awards to $20,000 multi-year awards. APIA Scholars has a special focus on supporting AANHPI students who live at or below the poverty line; are in the first generation of their family to attend college; and, are representative of the APIA community’s (geographic and ethnic) diversity. Strong applicants would have an emphasis on community service and leadership. Must be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the US, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, or Palau, be enrolling/continuing as a degree-seeking undergraduate in a US accredited college or university in Fall 2023, have a 2.7+ GPA, and apply for federal financial aid for the 2023-2024 academic year using the FASFA by early April 2023.

IDA Summer Associates Program

The Summer Associates Program at the Institute for Defense Analyses provides rising seniors with an opportunity to use their quantitative and analytical skills to work on challenging real-world national security issues. Each year, IDA hires and pays students at its Virginia and Washington, DC, facilities to work for ~10-12 weeks during the summer months. Students should have GPAs of 3.3+ in a variety of disciplines including computer science, information technology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, operations research, aero/astronautical engineering, mechanical or electrical engineering,as well as international relations, policy studies, social and behavioral sciences, statistics, finance, and economics.

The Teaching Assistant Program in France offers young professionals the opportunity to work in France for 7 months, teaching English to French students of all ages. It is part of the Assistants de langue en France program, which recruits ~4,500 young educators from 60 countries to teach 15 languages annually in France. The program's goal is to strengthen foreign-language instruction in French schools by establishing a native speaker presence, while also providing young educators around the world with initial international teaching experience and first-hand knowledge of French language and culture. Assistants teach 12 hours per week in up to 3 schools. All teaching contracts last 7 months from October 1-April 30.

The Japan Foundation aims to support the creation of new Japanese-themed activities for local communities by providing funding for staff positions that will design and implement the programming. Proposals must be Japan-related; however, the types of events may vary (e.g., in-person workshop, online lecture, etc.) as well as the topics (e.g. culture, business, professional development, Japanese Studies etc. excluding Japanese Language). US universities and US based nonprofit organizations with 501(c) (3) status that promote grassroots cultural exchange are welcome to apply.
