California Capital Fellows Programs

The Capital Fellows Programs offers experiences in policy-making and development in each branch of California state government. Fellows spend 10-11 months as part of a cohort working with state legislators, senior-level executive staff, and court administrators with a broad range of public policy issues and projects and are typically given assignments with a significant amount of responsibility and challenges. All Fellows receive a monthly stipend of $2,964, as well as medical, dental and vision benefits; fully-paid enrollment and earn six graduate units; student loan deferment; and, upon successful completion of the fellowship, a Graduate Certificate in Applied Policy and Government.

OECD Youthwise

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development invites young people aged 18‒30 (nationals of their member countries, such as the US) to bring their ideas about how to build a green and inclusive future. Youthwise delegates participate in closed-door meetings and consultations with the OECD, having direct input into its work. They speak on panels and participate in webinars, provide interventions on behalf of Youthwise, create and (co-)author documents, articles, and videos to share Youthwise views, join interactive workshops with other youth boards such as the Y20, meeting youth leaders from around the world, and get to network and gain a better understanding of how international policy-making functions.

INSA: Internships in Intelligence & National Security

The Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) is hiring paid interns to support events and working groups that address a wide range of issues related to the US Intelligence Community, the Department of Defense, and the private contractors that support them. INSA is a non-profit association that promotes public-private collaboration on intelligence and national security challenges. INSA interns have gone on to positions in U.S. intelligence agencies, government contractors, think tanks, and other organizations working on defense, intelligence, national security, and homeland security issues.
INSA interns work 20-25 hours per week and are paid $13 per hour. Interns must be U.S. citizens enrolled in a graduate program related to intelligence, national security, homeland security, or international affairs. Candidates in technical graduate programs (cybersecurity, science & technology, etc.) with a demonstrated interest in national security issues will also be considered. Interns must commit to the program for a minimum of two semesters (Spring/Summer, Summer/Fall, Fall/Spring), though many interns work with INSA for a full 12 months.

Boren Awards Application Process Open
Deadline: Wednesday, February 2, 2022
US undergraduates hoping to fund study abroad in world regions critical to US interests should look to the Boren Scholarship. Awards are determined by their duration abroad with special funding opportunities for STEM majors. Applicants must be US citizens at the time of the national application deadline, a high school graduate or have earned a GED, at least 18 years, planning an overseas program in a country outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, and planning to study in a country of which they are not a citizen.
