Walter J. Jensen Fellowship

The Walter J. Jensen Fellowship seeks to enrich, promote and improve education in the French language in the US through an award to educators and researchers to be used for education and study of French language, literature, and culture. The Fellowship is awarded for at least six continuous months of study in France and carries a stipend of $16,900, as well as a single round-trip, economy-class ticket to France. The fellowship is intended for applicants who convincingly demonstrate that an active use of the French language plays or will play a significant role in their current or future career; have a bachelor’s degree in French language and literature from an accredited four-year institution; have achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA; demonstrate superior competence in French, and are US Citizens.

The Big Brainstorm is an opportunity for young thinkers and activists from around the world to come together to embark on a two week virtual design sprint to explore, prototype, and launch initiatives to tackle some of humanity’s greatest challenges. Supported by the United Nations Foundation, the theme of the 2023 Big Brainstorm is “A Year of Action for the SDGs.” Youth-led and youth-focused initiatives will pitch ideas under one of 8 Action Groups. After the Big Brainstorm, support from the Unlock coalition will continue to be provided for Action Groups to deliver on their plans.

The APIA Scholarship is open to AANHPI undergraduates attending any US accredited university or college. Amounts range from $2,500 one-year awards to $20,000 multi-year awards. APIA Scholars has a special focus on supporting AANHPI students who live at or below the poverty line; are in the first generation of their family to attend college; and, are representative of the APIA community’s (geographic and ethnic) diversity. Strong applicants would have an emphasis on community service and leadership. Must be a citizen, national, or legal permanent resident of the US, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, or Palau, be enrolling/continuing as a degree-seeking undergraduate in a US accredited college or university in Fall 2023, have a 2.7+ GPA, and apply for federal financial aid for the 2023-2024 academic year using the FASFA by early April 2023.

IDA Summer Associates Program

The Summer Associates Program at the Institute for Defense Analyses provides rising seniors with an opportunity to use their quantitative and analytical skills to work on challenging real-world national security issues. Each year, IDA hires and pays students at its Virginia and Washington, DC, facilities to work for ~10-12 weeks during the summer months. Students should have GPAs of 3.3+ in a variety of disciplines including computer science, information technology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, operations research, aero/astronautical engineering, mechanical or electrical engineering,as well as international relations, policy studies, social and behavioral sciences, statistics, finance, and economics.
